7PS: The man on the horse 🐎

Read time: 1 minute, 334 words.

A man is riding a horse at full speed.

Someone standing nearby shouts:

"Where are you going?"

The rider calls back:

"I don't know.

Ask the horse."

I stopped when I came across this story.

Because a lot of life can feel like that.

Busy.

In motion.

Always responding.

So here's the question I'm sitting with:

What in your life is the horse right now?

PS - I found this story while reading Thích Nhất Hạnh. He reminds us to return to the present moment. If you're new to Hanh, start with this book.

John Cage – Composer, writer, and artist whose career spanned music, philosophy, visual art, and teaching. He treated constraints, chance, and systems as collaborators, influencing not just experimental music but how people think about creativity itself.

⚡️ Productivity

Zotero – Research and reference manager that helps you collect, organize, and annotate articles, PDFs, and sources. Useful if your learning involves synthesis over time rather than quick consumption.

💰 Wealth

Annual Expenses Snapshot. Open your bank or budgeting app and total what you spent last year, category by category. Then circle the single category that increased the most year over year. That's where lifestyle drift is happening, whether you intended it or not.

📚 Books

The Scout Mindset by Julia Galef. Approaching beliefs with curiosity rather than defensiveness. Focuses on noticing when you’re reasoning to win instead of reasoning to understand.

🎵 Music

Electric Ladyland by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Recorded across multiple sessions in 1968, the album pushed studio experimentation to the foreground, using tape effects, layered guitars, and extended improvisation. It marked Hendrix’s transition from virtuoso performer to studio architect.

💭 AI Prompt

Describe a version of my life where everything is predictable. Explain what feels safe about it, what feels dead, and why I might still choose it anyway.

🥣 Gravy

One film can shift everything

Your job won't exist in 10 years

Most artists fear crossing over

Read time: 1 minute, 319 words. James Stockdale spent eight years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. He was tortured repeatedly. Later, he was asked: Who did not make it out? His answer: The optimists. The ones who said,"We will be out by Christmas." Then Christmas came and went. Then Easter. Then Thanksgiving. Then Christmas again. They died of broken hearts. The lesson: Never lose faith that you will prevail in the end. But never lie to yourself about the reality in front of you. -Kabir PS -...
